Alkagesta adds Antwerp biofuel storage under multi-year lease
Alkagesta has secured Antwerp biofuel storage at Pantank to support European flows of biodiesel and renewable fuel feedstocks.

Alkagesta has expanded its Antwerp biofuel storage position through a multi-year lease covering tanks at Pantank’s facilities. The additional capacity is intended to support movements of biodiesel and renewable fuel feedstocks into Europe, while widening the trading company’s sourcing options and improving links between smaller suppliers and inland markets.
The Pantank facilities can accommodate biofuel cargoes moving by vessel, road tanker and container. This range of transport options will give Alkagesta greater flexibility in directing products through its European supply chain and handling deliveries from different sources. The volume of capacity covered by the agreement was not disclosed.
Broader access to European biodiesel markets
Industry sources expect the new tank capacity to help smaller suppliers reach customers in inland Europe. Anthony Guida, a biofuels trader at Alkagesta, said the Antwerp arrangement should connect smaller producers with European biodiesel markets and assist the supply chain in meeting regional blending and sustainability requirements.
Alkagesta’s biofuels trading portfolio includes used cooking oil, oils derived from food waste, soapstock acid oils and biodiesel. The company has operated in the terminal sector for almost a decade, concentrating on operational efficiency and risk management alongside its trading activities.
Storage supports supply-chain flexibility
The agreement comes as international fuel markets contend with substantial price movements linked to geopolitical tensions. Biofuel markets have been relatively stable by comparison, supported by a broader mix of feedstock supply chains and European blending mandates. Recent disruption has been more apparent in logistics and feedstock price relationships than in underlying demand, according to market participants.
That environment has increased the commercial importance of storage availability and supply chains able to adjust to changing logistics. The Antwerp tanks add to Alkagesta’s existing network, which comprises close to 700,000 cubic metres of storage capacity across Europe and Asia. The largest share of the company’s storage assets is concentrated in the Mediterranean region.
By adding capacity in Antwerp, Alkagesta is extending its ability to receive, store and redistribute biofuel products through several transport modes. The arrangement is expected to provide further flexibility for feedstock and biodiesel flows while supporting access to the European market for suppliers operating with smaller volumes.
