Malta, September 2026. Alkagesta has been awarded the EcoVadis Committed Badge, recognising the company's commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices across its global trading operations.

EcoVadis is one of the world's most widely used providers of business sustainability ratings, assessing companies across four pillars: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment is evidence-based, evaluating policies, reporting and transparency against internationally recognised sustainability standards. Achieving the Committed Badge reflects performance across these criteria and provides a framework for continued improvement.

The recognition sits alongside Alkagesta's broader ESG framework, which includes ISCC and CORSIA certification for sustainable aviation fuel trading, access to EU ETS allowances, and investment in environmental research initiatives. The company sets out its approach in its ESG Report 2025 and publishes transparency disclosures alongside its code of conduct.

"Receiving the EcoVadis Committed Badge reflects the work being done across Alkagesta to embed responsible business practices into how we operate — not as a separate agenda, but as part of how we run the business day to day," said Orkhan Rustamov, the company's chief executive. "As a company trading commodities that sit at the heart of the global economy, we take seriously our responsibility to operate with integrity and transparency. We see this as a foundation to build on, and we will continue to raise our standards across the areas EcoVadis measures."

For commodity trading houses, third-party sustainability ratings have become a practical requirement rather than a marketing exercise. Banks, insurers and counterparties increasingly incorporate EcoVadis-style scores into onboarding, credit review and KYC refresh processes, making documented performance across the four pillars commercially relevant to trade finance relationships and risk management frameworks alike.

Alkagesta trades petroleum products, fertilizers, biofuels and steel across more than 48 countries, with operations spanning trading, shipping and logistics and structured finance. Further detail on the company's business model, leadership and governance and core values is available on its website, and the original announcement appears in the company's media centre.
