Alkagesta explained its Singapore expansion largely through the voices of its leadership, and the quotes told the story more directly than any press release. The hub, Alkagesta Asia Pte Ltd, was established in 2025 as the Asia-Pacific anchor of a network covering Malta, London, Geneva and Dubai.

CEO Orkhan Rustamov set the strategic frame. "Singapore is where Asian markets converge with global capital," he said in the announcement published at Alkagesta Expands Singapore Commodity Trading Hub. To IPS News he added that clients valued trust, not only execution, and that Singapore was part of a long-term strategy to be present where decisions were made.

Board member Pierre Gay was blunter. "Singapore is more than a location; it is a test of credibility," he told IPS. To Fintech News Singapore he described the city-state as "the ideal environment for disciplined commodity trading," and to ScandAsia he offered the line that summed up the model: "Trust is not granted; it's earned through structure."

Rustamov, in the same ScandAsia piece, tied it together: "Our goal is to merge the precision of EU governance with Asia's growth momentum. That's what Singapore makes possible."

On the ground, Agshin Bakirzade, Commodity Trading Director for APAC, kept the tone measured. Speaking to Ship & Bunker as volumes reached 180,000 MT in December 2025 against a 250,000 MT target, he called the growth "selective and strategic."

The words were matched by work: a site visit recorded in Alkagesta at Horizon Terminal Singapore, Jurong Island and a market view set out in Singapore Marine Fuels 2026: Supply Resilience.
