KR and Hanwha Ocean Partner on Dual LNG Bunkering Vessel Concepts
Korean Register and shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean have initiated a joint project to design two liquefied natural gas bunkering vessels featuring distinct cargo containment systems.
Classification society Korean Register (KR) and South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean have established a joint development initiative focused on engineering two distinct liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel designs.
The collaborative effort centres on creating vessel concepts that incorporate separate cargo containment technologies, addressing the evolving technical requirements of the maritime alternative fuels sector.
Under the partnership, the technical teams will evaluate different engineering approaches for the storage and transfer of chilled fuel, aiming to broaden the operational options available for ship-to-ship LNG refuelling infrastructure.
Further commercial and engineering specifications regarding vessel capacity, dimensions, and targeted delivery timelines remain subject to ongoing joint development work by the participating organisations.
