Peninsula Completes Inaugural LNG Bunker Operation in Sagunto
Marine fuel supplier Peninsula has finalised its maiden liquefied natural gas bunkering operation at the Spanish port of Sagunto.
Marine energy supplier Peninsula has concluded its initial liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operation at the port of Sagunto, expanding its alternative fuel delivery footprint in the Mediterranean region.
The delivery represents the group's inaugural supply of chilled gas as a marine fuel within the eastern Spanish maritime hub, according to industry reports. The completion marks an extension of local infrastructure access for vessels requiring lower-emission fuel alternatives along key regional trade lanes.
Sagunto has increasingly featured in regional maritime gas logistics, supported by existing terminal facilities that enable both standard cargo operations and specialised marine fuel transfers. Peninsula's initial operation adds dedicated bunkering execution to the port's commercial activities.
The deployment of LNG bunkering services aligns with ongoing efforts across the shipping sector to utilise alternative marine fuels in response to international environmental regulations and fleet decarbonisation objectives.
Further commercial details regarding the volume delivered, the receiving vessel, and the specific supply asset utilised during the Sagunto transfer were not disclosed.
